Job Details: Permanent fulltime FIFO 6 on 2 off position Salary package of up to $160,000.00 per annum Allocated work vehicle with approved personal use Fully furnished accommodation provided at only $30 per fortnight for utilities Remote travel allowance: $7,500/year (paid fortnightly) Relocation assistance: $1,500 Salary sacrifice: Up to $16,000/year You will be working for a Remote Aboriginal Health Service in a community of approximately 350 people located in South Australia. The health service is sometimes asked by SA Health to attend emergencies on the highway, however this at the choice of the nurse to attend or not but otherwise there is always one nurse based in the community, the community is the priority area for this role. The service has an ambulance, which is used as an on-call vehicle. Patients which are deemed in critical condition are evacuated via RFDS in plane to Port Augusta (in most cases). There is a small airstrip located just outside of community. The clinic has no permanent doctor; however, there is a doctor who visits at least once a week on Wednesday or Thursday. You will be required to be on call after hours as per a scheduled roster (with two other RN's), an aboriginal Health worker will also be rostered on so you are never called out on your own. The Health Worker will be first response in most situations before a nurse will be called out. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive primary healthcare services to individuals in community, including health assessments, vaccinations, wound care, and chronic disease management. Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies, including trauma and life-threatening situations, and administer immediate care until evacuation or further treatment is possible. Educate community members on health promotion, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices, helping them take control of their well-being. Work closely with a small team of healthcare providers, collaborating with other professionals and community members to assess patient needs, plan and deliver care, and monitor patient progress. Administer medications and ensure proper storage and management of pharmaceuticals in accordance with established protocols. Undertake cold chain procedures to ensure the proper storage and transport of temperature-sensitive medications and vaccines, maintaining their efficacy. Assist in maintaining infection control procedures and hygiene standards, safeguarding both patients and healthcare personnel in the remote setting. Be prepared to facilitate and coordinate medical evacuations when necessary, ensuring patients receive the appropriate care in a timely manner. Participate in after-hours on-call rostering to provide medical support and emergency care during evenings and weekends, ensuring round-the-clock healthcare coverage for the community. To be eligible for this position you must: Full AHPRA registration with no restrictions Current REC course completed Current ALS Experience in remote healthcare or emergency care. Comfortable and experienced in cannulation and Suturing. Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, including an understanding of their cultural values, traditions, and healthcare practices.
